Prince Georgios Marios Theocharopoulos (full name Georgios Marios Theocharopoulos Antonopoulos Karatheodoris Mavrokordatos Soutzos) is a Prince of the House of Soutzos, one of the Greek Phanariot dynasties that were ruling Princes of the Principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia. More specifically he is an 8th generation descendant of his Serene Highness Prince Michael Drakos Soutzos of Moldavia and Wallachia. Prince Michael’s descendants were allowed to use the honourary title of Prince/Princess, because the Greek Phanariot Princes of Moldavia, Wallachia and Samos were allowed to keep their titles even after the end of their reign by the Sublime Porte, and transmit them to all of their descendants, both male and female, as we get informed by the historian and genealogist Eugene Rizo Rangabe in his book named “Livre d’or de la noblesse phanariote” (translation from French: Golden Book of the Phanariot Nobility)
Georgio’s acclaim in the scientific community stems from his expertise as a Biologist from the University of Patras, with a particular emphasis on the intricate study of brain stem cells. His research prowess has been recognized on international platforms, evident from a scientific poster endorsed and published by the prestigious Cambridge University. Balancing his research commitments, Georgios also immerses himself in rigorous academic pursuits as a Medical Doctor Student at the renowned European University of Cyprus.
Beyond the confines of academia and research, Georgios has masterminded and executed several high-profile charity Galas, channeling the funds raised to support the breadlines of the Greek Orthodox Church, providing sustenance to those in need. Furthermore, Georgio’s dedication to societal upliftment is evident in his hands-on involvement with the ELEPAP organization. Here, he selflessly offers his time and skills, assisting children with special needs and ensuring they receive the support they require.
His sense of duty and commitment to humanitarian causes doesn’t end there. As an honorary member of the Hellenic Rescue Team, Georgios has been on the front lines during some of the nation’s most challenging times. This was particularly evident during the devastating fires of 2013 in Eleones of Amfissas, located in the Fokida region. His bravery and tenacity played a crucial role in rescuing numerous civilians, ensuring their safety amidst the raging flames.
Adding to his myriad philanthropic endeavors, Georgios Marios’s benevolence shines through his substantial monetary contributions to several charitable institutions. These organizations, scattered across Greece, the USA, and Germany, primarily focus on alleviating the financial burdens faced by underprivileged families with children battling cancer. Their mission, which aligns with Georgio’s values, ensures that these children receive life-saving surgical operations without the added weight of insurmountable medical bills.
